REPORTS TO: Process Manager
ABOUT US:
We are a fast-paced food manufacturing business, specialising in producing ready meals for a wide range of customers. Operating from a large-scale factory environment, we are committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and delicious products. The successful candidate will predominantly support low care production areas but also support other area within training, ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
To assist in the development of new, profitable and deliverable product concepts. To provide process and technical support in product development and successful transfer to production.
This role has the responsibility for delivering focused development for customers whilst developing the cost effectiveness of the site.
Ensure that concept ready meals and convenience foods are successfully transferred from the kitchen to factory launch.
This role will work closely with all departments meeting the customer requirements for shelf life, commercial targets, consistency and organoleptic characteristics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Trial Management
- Responsible for organising factory pre-launch and shelf-life trials as required. Ensuring that correct process is followed and findings such as microbiological or organoleptic testing to be shared with all relevant parties.
Document Control
- Ensure that all product information received from the concept team is verified as correct. The product & recipe manual must be always maintained and kept up to date with all necessary sign offs.
- Ensure that products meet the correct customer criteria and that following any product approval all relevant departments have the necessary information to complete the customer requirements for launch critical path.
- Undertake traceability exercises as requested.
- Generate the final customer Quality Attribute Information for all new products and ensure they are updated to the customer requests and approved in the timescales agreed with each customer.
Sample Management
- Organise factory samples as appropriate for each stage in the critical path.
- Collate information from all practical work & interpret and feedback any relevant results to the Concept Development Technologist for possible product amendment or discussion with the customer.
Communication
- This role requires strong communication across the business & is a key contact between several departments.
- Responsible always updating all key parties to progress.
- Must provide a central point of information for factory enquiries on new product trials and/or launches.
Development Management Systems
- Responsible for aligning our development processes to customer requirements.
Process Expertise
- As central contact for factory enquiries you are responsible for translating kitchen methods and assembly into a suitable factory process, ensuring that parties understand and have the relevant product information.
Customer Liaison
- To assist & support the Process Development Manager as appropriate with customer presentations and panels.
Continuous Improvement and Cost Management
- Provide a tangible input into the ongoing improvement of product quality of existing dishes as part of the development team.
- Provide input with technical and operations after product launch to ascertain if any further improvements can be paid.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIO:
Desirable level of knowledge, qualification, training and experience necessary to enable the Jobholder to perform the job to an acceptable standard
Qualifications
- HND Degree in a food or microbiological related discipline or relevant experience at least 3 years.
Experience
- Experience within Chilled Manufacturing High Care and or High Risk or laboratory.
- Worked in a similar role or can show previous experience.
- Working in a cross functional role across manufacturing, QA and external laboratories.
